The further we go into the citadel, the less I recognize myself. After spending the night in the tower, we opted to rappel down a rope via the central shaft. A mere eighty feet into the darkness. I lost my grip, fell a ways and managed to catch the rope again. There was no time to catch my breath at the bottom, skeletons, twig blights, and a bug bear greeted us with violence.

My contribution to the battle consisted of sending errant blasts of eldritch force that at best kept the enemy ducking. Amidst all that, the eye coin seemed to taunt me, Even tucked away safe in a pocket dimension, I could feel it taunting my failures. I do not know yet know if it bears any connection to the eye in the heavens. It feels different than that.

Through all this, the party suspects nothing. They soldiered on as we explored the lower depths. The paladin grew wings and flew down the tower shaft, revealing their aasimar heritage. The rogue elf, Penelope scouted and made certain the way was safe. At least I didn’t bumble into any traps.

The going feels slower down here, though we did discover some kind of mushroom farming and fell apothecaric processing. The goblins down here were enlisted in grinding ingedients and experimenting on rats to imbue them with twig blight traits. The druid Vantiss grew angry over that, and I have no doubt the mastermind behind it will suffer greatly at her hands.

After much fighting, we secured a position deeper into the level and called for a rest. Everyone had cuts and bruises and all the spellcaster were nearly drained. I myself could maybe muster one more spell of significance.

I know not what I’m doing down here. We’ve not seen sign of the last adventurer we were supposed to be seeking. The coin vexes me, and I dare not take it out lest anyone suspect its nature or value. I feel as though we have lost our way. If only I might gaze upon familiar stars, but the night sky is denied me. Leaving me naught but reminders of my own shortcomings and darkness.

These days, everything starts in Saltmarsh. Which might be fine if I had an observatory, perhaps just outside of town. We’re remote enough I might get a clear view of the sky. Especially from that old

A few weeks back, when we captured the Sea Ghost, we discovered the passengers, a group of lizardfolk. The town of Saltmarsh didn’t trust them, so put them up in a secure location. I still don’t think
